Medicinal Herb Walks, Herbal Workshops and Talks in 2017

Frances is available for medicinal herbal walks in Bushey and Watford, Herts over the summer. The walks are tailored to your group's interest and begin at 2pm and last approximately 2 hours. We will seek out plants in the hedgerows and local woods that have a history of traditional use as herbal medicine as well as discussing folklore and use in the home. Infused Herbal Oils and Vinegars

Come along and discover the zingy and tasty herbal vinegars that you can make for summer and winter salads as well as making medicinal herb oils for aching joints. Frances and Jill will share their recipes and answer all of your herbal questions. For more details email Frances.

Medicinal Herbal Tea Blending Workshop

Medical herbalists Frances Watkins and Jill Mills will introduce you to the aromas and tastes of medicinal herbal tea blends for relaxation, mood enhancing and a better quality of sleep. Spaces are limited so do book early to avoid disappointment. We will discuss the medicinal properties of each plant, when and where to collect from the wild and how to harvest and store your herbs. Spaces are limited so do book early.

The mini workshop is £25 per person and includes all the tastings throughout the day, making a herbal blend of your choice to label, pack and take home, handout for the teas discussed. Medicinal Tree and Shrub Walk

Many trees and shrubs found in the garden provided scientists with the chemical frameworks to develop modern synthetic medicines prescribed by your GP today. This walk will focus on those plants that have provided such an important part in developing modern drugs for maintaining health and a number of plants currently being researched that will provide medicines in the future. Discover which of these trees and shrubs have been traditionally used in Western herbal medicine for over two thousand years and included in the British Herbal Pharmacopoeia. The walk will be facilitated by medical herbalists Frances Watkins and Jill Mills.

Spaces are limited so do book early and see Reveley in its autumnal splendour with the changing leaf colour, fruits and berries providing winter fodder for the local wildlife. Tickets are £10 each and include a guided walk around Reveley gardens, a cup of tea and a piece of home-made cake. Reveley Lodge is situated at the corner of Elstree Road and Clay Lane in Bushey Heath, Hertfordshire. There is very limited parking at Reveley and for major events it is better to park in Caldecote Gardens just opposite Reveley Lodge, or in Clay Lane.

Herbal Infusions, Decoctions and Syrups Workshop

Medical herbalists Frances Watkins and Jill Mills will introduce you to kitchen medicine using herbs to keep away coughs, colds and flu. You will be making your very own relaxing infusion from a selection of dried herbs, a soothing decoction to help relieve coughs and sore throats and a syrup high in vitamin C to help keep away colds throughout the winter months. Spaces are limited so do book early.

The workshop is £40 per person and includes all the herbal remedies that you make and refreshments throughout the day. You will receive a handout for the herbal remedies, a reading list of books for inspiration to make other simple remedies that can be used in the home.
